The J.J. Reneaux Mentorship Grant
The Mentorship Grant is awarded to an emerging storyteller, 18-30 years old, and the seasoned storyteller who has agreed to be their Mentor during calendar year 2025.

This grant provides $2,000 to the mentoring pair -- $1,250 to the Mentor, $750 to the Mentee.

The grant will be presented in 2025, with an announcement of the recipients in November 2024.

Deadline to apply is Friday, September 20, 2024 at 11:59pm Eastern Time.
Before Applying

You must identify and come to a preliminary agreement with a storytelling mentor (who is a well-respected, seasoned storyteller) from whom you would like to receive coaching.
With the mentor, make a coaching and/or workshop plan that both of you feel will be appropriate to your needs. Be sure to check what the award will and will not fund. Mentorship will take place during calendar year 2025.

What the award will and will not fund:

The award may be used only to pay for activities that will advance your storytelling skills: for instance, workshops, specific courses of study, travel to work with your mentor, relevant conference attendance, and other forms of training.

Awards cannot be applied to research, marketing, promotional materials, recordings, props, costumes, etc.
